Meet Xena
My name is Xena Ellis C-EFM, RNC-OB, BSN, RN and I graduated in May of 2022 with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) from The University of Wyoming. I am a first-generation university graduate and navigated the college world alone. I managed to have my entire college paid for with scholarships, grants, and working full-time. I was a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for 5 years before I earned my Bachelors Degree and became a Registered Nurse (RN). I worked throughout college in a long-term care facility, medical/surgical unit, and the ER.
I have been a Labor and Delivery Nurse for 2.5 years now. I have completed intermediate and advanced fetal monitoring courses, peanut ball courses, spinning babies courses and high risk OB courses. I have also recently earned my national certificate in electronic fetal monitoring, C-EFM. I also have recently earned my RNC-OB. I have worked at both a larger high risk labor and delivery unit and a small rural LDRP unit. I absolutely love taking care of my labor patients and providing them a full experience. The birthing process should be a beautiful experience that protects both mother and baby. I hope to expand my knowledge and help educate others on creating birth experiences that will change the future of labor nursing.
In February of 2025, I recently became the only Authorized Peanut Ball Trainer, APBT, in the entire state of Wyoming. I am currently working on expanding peanut ball workshops and education so that nurses and patients can have improved birth outcomes and experiences.
